It doesn't matter that he sings safe and uncomplicated ballads, forgets lyrics, and uses no imagination or creativity in his songs, he is their prechosen sweetheart just like Sanjaya, only America didn't fall for it back then.
Here is David Cook, with talent, creativity and skill, taking on the most difficult tasks at singing and making the songs original, yet the faux praise still goes to the short, chubby , kid with the Danny smile.

I do think it was unfair how they supported David A more than David Cook last night (Tuesday). The final show is tonight (Wednesday). However, both are great singers. I personally think Cook would sell more records. Archuleta is too mature and sings Elton John and he's only 17! If he chose better music, it would be easier for his CDs to be sold later. All in all, I think Cook should win. Both will have a great future.

So the deal is, to make YOUR choice look better you cut down the other guy? Nice. Plus your preconceived notion of the "short, chubby kid" leaves you with a closed mind on his performances.

I disagree. I think Cook will win. I will not be unhappy either way. At least I am willing to give each of them a chance.

They did have Archuleta singled out from the beginning, it seems. I like his voice, and he's certainly got a cult of personality thing happening for him...but was he the best singer of the lot? No, I don't think so. I really am starting to wonder about this season and how much of it is really "viewer's choice". That little issue Paula had with referring to her already written cards made me start to wonder if the comments made to the contestants are prewritten based on rehearsal performances.

I watched every episode last year when my hometown girl won, but this year just seemed like a waste of time.

I kind of agreed a bit, when I saw the choices that were made for them on the first song. Out of the thousands of songs available, the dude would pick a very powerful Elton John song for a kid we know can sing anythng, then he picks a lame U-2 song that was way overplayed forever ago for David Cook. Not only that, there wasn't a whole lot of opportunity for Cook to change up that song, and you know if he had the judges would have ridiculed him for it.

Archuletta is an amazing singer, but David Cook knows how to perform a song and make it his own.

Regardless of what the voting outcome is tonight, they both have huge royalty checks coming to them for life. David Cook I know is going through hard times with his family member being ill, but, how many times can he roll his eyes. I was very focused on his demeanors last night and not only that he acted as if he's already been defeated, he was just really wasn't in to it! David Achuleta did out sang Cool last night. Again, regardless, they are now officially rich!

I believe that Archuleta may have a chance of winning because a great majority of American Idol is a popularity competition. However, his genre range is minimum (mainly limited to ballots) which I believe won't be good later on. I'd like to listen to him on the radio, but I would never think to buy a concert ticket of his. David Cook has such a large range and his vocals are beautiful. I loved his 2nd song last night. If this show still is a talent competition and not a popularity competition, it's Cook all the way!

I'm so over AI and I don't even know who the winner will be. The fact that David A. (ok, he can sing and teenagers think he's cute) is still there really annoys me. That gosh-golly personality just erks me.

If David C. doesn't win, he will have an album which I will buy. His career will last much longer than David A. who I'm pretty sure will end up hanging out with Clay Aiken on Broadway in a couple of years when all of the teenagers who voted for him turn 18 and are now attracted to "real" men and not little boys..

Next season I'll watch the audition episodes but that will be it. I refuse to sit through another season of "oh my" "i can't believe it" David A. style cliches...

When Simon told him he won round 1, I wanted to puke at David A's reaction. Do his parents ever let this boy out of his house other then to compete on Star Search and AI?

I don't agree that DA is or has been pre-selected as this seasons AI.
You have two individuals, one an adult, with a cd out already, has some experience in the music business, very creative and seems to know what he wants to do musically.
And then you have the highschool kid, just starting out, not much experience.
They are both winners at this point. Like I have said before, Cook is better off not winning, that AI contract will not be good for his musical creativity.

Yeah, I think David Archuleta will win because he has a HUGE tween girl following and a larger fan base.
I would put my money on him!
