All the originals:
I like to see Philip come back. The original Beth. Mindy, Lujac, Mallet, Rick get a more believeable story line. Maybe the original writers back. I was reading some of your answers and You got the wrong idea it is a what if question. I can see what is happening and GL is slowly going down the tubes. If you could bring back a favorite character who would you like to see(like at the Bauer BBQ) by the original actor/actress that first played the role. |

I loved "Classic" GL, I'd like to see Cat Speaks, David Grant (Monte Sharpe) Hart, and Roger Thorpe (even though I know he's gone). those where the things that made guiding light, I don't know what they've done to it since then.

It would be nice to have some of them back for a Bauer 4th of July picnic. Remember those? As for Lujac.. didn't he die on the show? And also Ross. Didn't he die too? I'm not talking about the actor, like Michael Zaslow (Roger), just the characters. I liked the original Mallet. He was great with Harley. Those were the good old days of GL.

well the orginal writers ( Ima Phillips) are long dead- ( died in 1973)
GL has been on the air (starting with Radio in 1937) for 70 years! it started on tv in 1952 http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0680460/ I don't see GL doing any bringing back past charcter or actors at the moment- their Budget has bee cut big time and they are going after the Younger viewers ( 18-34 yr olds) the viewers the Advertisers want |

I'm afraid GL has about seen it's day. Some say they are trying to reach younger viewers. It's not working! My daughter is 21, I have a niece 17, 18, 20 and 25. And a number of friends that have younger people in their family and they all say GL is junk, the way they are doing it. My daughter doesn't even watch anymore.

I use to love the old Guiding Light, but whenever I do get a chance to watch it, it looks like a Lifetime movie of something. its not in the form of a soap opera anymore. i understand they might want to do something different than the others, buts its not working. It sad, but I use to look for to the Baurer's BBQ myself. Everyone put their problems aside and got alone at least that one day.

I'd love to have Philip back. I like this Beth. Judi Evans has been gone a long time. It would be wonderful to have Holly & Fletcher back. Ed Bauer is needed, so are Michelle and Danny. Ross needs to come back from Lanview. I've been very worried about the show. Something must be done to get it back on track...

Thank You for the question. I would love to see Kimberly Simms back as Mindy, Judi Evans back as Beth and Vincent Irizarry back, probably as Nick, not Lujack. Lujack's character, while great, was based on rebellious youth and once he became a Spaulding and got older his character kind of was at a dead end......not to mention he died on screen. I still think they could do great things with bringing those 3 back.
Of course there are others. Jenna, Mark Derwin as Mallett, Rick Hearst as Alan-Michael, Phillip, Fletcher, Ross, Ed, Holly (although those last 4 are getting up in age) Cast a good, dark complected actor as one of Roger's grandsons and reinvent his persona. Unfortunately for us, some of the old actors hit it big and will probably never come back. Melina Kanakaredes, Nia Long. I could go on forever, there are plenty of actors and characters who are still in their prime and not old, and could make the show so much better. You could get rid of all but about 5 cast members and replace them with half as many from the group I mentioned and some others I'm not thinking of and the show would be 10 times as good. However, no casting miracles will save the show until they stop this rediculous filming method and get back in a real studio. *NO SANTOS'S! |
