David Archuleta sang unbelievibly well last night...
And David Cook just sang mediocre (for him) So my question is.... Did David Cook throw the competition?? I mean... WHY didnt he sing Billie Jean?? it doesnt make sense, my theory is that he doesnt want that American Idol record deal... he wants his own (that would probably be better, ...look at daughtry...) anyone agree?? opinions on last night?? |

Yup, you hit the nail right on the head. The American Idol winner has too many restrictions put on them as far as what they can and can't do. As runner-up, David Cook will pretty much be able to do whatever he wants creatively.
Archuletta needs someone to tell him what to do anyway, so winning will be better for him. I still predict if he wins that he will faint. I don't think he's mature enough to handle the fame. |

I am also a David Cook fan and last night was def. not his best performances he can do so much better, but i am glad he threw the competition because if he did win then he wouldnt be able to sing and perform the songs he likes and he would be stuck in an American Idol contract for 2 years. That would suck

i wish he sang those too!
i agree archuleta did better, but people are starting to realize that cook is better, so there is a big possibility that he might win! |

Yes, I believe Cook tried to throw the competition like Blake Lewis did last year. He chose terrible songs and sounded like he was mumbling the words on his second song. Terrible performance for him. But Cook has too many fans to support him and he is still expected to win this year. That's sad because he would have been better off without the restricted Am. Idol contract.

Oh my god, what you said is like exactly true!
i love david cook and i want him to win but with his talent he needs more than the American Idol contract. Archuleta is so gay and he is gonna be one of those american idols that make one cd and then you never hear about them again. |

Well I hate David Archuleta and not to set you off by disagreeing I thought David Cook crushed the competition last night. I am also a David Cook fan. Oh and I can answer your 2nd question for you. Last night he said he didn't do Billie Jean because he says it is all about progression and showing that you improved and he said " How would I show I improved if I do a song I already did before" Yes I do wish he would have sang Billie Jean because I loved that performance [ I loved every performance of his and I can't choose a favorite because they were all like flawless ] but I also wish he would have did something by Nickleback Or Daughtry because that seems up his alley. And I think he does want the deal because when Shawna Malcolm was on [ a reportyer for T.V Guide magazine} she said that David Cook was actually standing on stage just taking it all in almost in tears. And if he didn't want this career he would not have of released an album.
Just my opinion. |

I'm not sure he actually threw away the competition but you are actually right in saying he only sang so-so last night. I also thought he is deliberately only ok performances in order to lessen his chances of winning when he pick a weird song choice instead of Billie Jean or Hello then being teary eyed after. I actually liked his second song better than Archuleta, it has a more catchy beat to it but both songwriter songs has cheesy corny lyrics. I think he would be better off like Daughtry having a record deal of his own with him having a better creative reign. Winning idol does not necessarily mean you will do good (Carrie) or not so good (Taylor Hicks).

I agree completely and totally!
Even if that's not what he planned, I think that it would be better off for him even if he didn't win. He'd get better contract deals, just like Daughtry. Totally agree with you man. |
